As the years are passing, item songs are becoming increasing popular. This year has probably the most item songs performed by leading actresses. Most of them are already known for their marvellous acting skills and now want to show the world their jhatakhs and which better way to do that but to perform an item number.

7 "Item Girls" to look forward to in 2012!

1. Katrina Kaif - The first item song to hit the screen in 2012 is none other than Chikni Chameli (Agneepath) performed by Katrina Kaif. The song shows the versatility of Shreya Ghosal who has been praised for the vocals, however the music video has received mixed reactions. I am one of those who loved it!

2. Priyanka Chopra - Our "Desi Girl" is all set to perform an item song in Kunal Kohli's next titled "Teri Meri Kahaani" which releases 22 June 2012.

3. Vidya Balan - After sizzling with "Ooh la la", Vidya Balan has agreed to do an item number for Vinod Chopra's "Ferrari ki Sawaari". Shooting starts in the first week of February and the film is set to release 22 April 2012.

4. Rani Mukerji - Rani recently showed us her Aiyya persona by delivering her recent speech at the Pune Film Festival in Marathi. This has intrigued even the mutuals as to what she would bring to the table with this film. Rani will do a lavaani dance titled "Aga Bai" in the film. The song has been choreographed by Vaibhav Merchant. Aiyya releases 28 September 2012.

5. Chitrangada Singh - Speaking of Marathi, Chirangada will also don a marathi look for her special appearance song in "Joker". The song is titled "Kaafiraana" and Chitrangada has stated "My item number is sensuous". Is she ready to take commercial cinema by storm? Only time... Or at least this song will tell.

6. Sonakshi Sinha - She will also be performing an item number in "Joker". Not much has been seen of her dancing capabilities so this song which has lyrics that go somewhat like "dance karle english mein" will be one to watch out for!

7. Last is our Diva of Item Numbers, with the iconic "Chal Chaiyya Chaiyya", this Munni can definitely deliver when it comes to these songs. If you haven't already guessed who I was talking about, Maalika Arora Khan is back again with a dance number in "Housefull 2". Choreographed by the Farah Khan, it has been said that this one is her best yet. Can't wait!

Shahid Kapoor's "Need for Speed"...

While Shahid is busy test driving luxury cars (be it the Aston Martin or the Jaguar), I can't help but dig deeper into the reasons behind it.

Its apparent that Shahid has been going through a rough patch after Mausam failed to live up to expectation, Shahid has since slipped down in ranking among his fellow rivals.

With Imran Khan still riding high on the success of Delhi Belly and Mere Brother ki Dulhan and Ranbir Kapoor winning all the Best Actor awards, there is sheer determination to reach the top.

So is Shahid paying a hefty price just to upper his status and accelerate closer to competitors? Both Imran and Ranbir have already purchased flashy cars. With Ranbir getting a sexy Audi and Imran a feisty Ferrari, it sure is time Shahid gets his.

Whatever the reason for Shahid's "Need for Speed", be it to get the lucky girl to take long drives with or to become on par with fellow actors, both will be a win win situation.

7 KHOON MAAF

It may have been in the top 10 on India Forbes list of “Most awaited films for 2011” (there were only 2 bollywood films included) but when it released, it bombed at the box office and collected a net amount of only 21Cr.
I don’t understand why they chose to release it amid the fever of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Its poor performance at the box office might have been mainly due to this.

Introduction

Based on a short story by Ruskin Bond, 7 khoon maaf is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Vishal is known for making films which lack colour;so if you watch a pirate copy, you might see it as almost darkness. The protagonist is played by Priyanka Chopra who a highly ranked actress of Indian cinema. Arun Kumar is played by Vivaan Shah who is the son of Naseerudin Shah

Short Take

I enjoyed the narration; it took you on the journey of Susaana’s life. The acting was phenomenal. Everyone understood and executed their character brilliantly. The music was a bit dull except for the chart topper “Darrrling”. I overlooked the few mistakes by dwelling on the positives and at the end was left satisfied. After watching 7KM I am left dwelling on the possibities of what was the 7th sin...............

Things that makes NO ONE KILLED JESSICA a “killing”.

1.    How often do you see bollywood films being based on an actual story? Seldom. NO ONE KILLED JESSICA is based on the murder of model, Jessica Lall. This film is being made  even after the accused has been sentenced. Interesting......

2.    RANI MUKHERJEE. Yes, that’s the second point. Untouchably the most versatile actress. She has (literally) shocked the nation with her attitude and passion in which she plays the character of Meera Gaiety, a strong headed, assertive journalist. With all controversies she is facing with a certain action and language which we have seen in the promos, Rani might end up with the nickname of “BEEP” Mukherjee. Watch out for this performance.

3.    The music. Amit Trivedi does what he does best. This album is made to be played on blast! Be it “Dilli”, “Aietbaar” or “Aali Re”. He nails it and provides music that blends in marvellously with the theme of the film.

This is certainly is a film to watch out for. It contains no mainstream leading actor and is still a one of the most anticipated films of 2011.

Bollywood might just start next year with a BANG!
